Halo: Infinite - Master Chief (model)

I created the Master Chief model for Halo: Infinite.

I 'designed' the Infinite version of Chief in collaboration with Nicolas 'Sparth' Bouvier & Daniel Chavez (I also credit Kyle Hefley, Patrick Gilette, Dan Sarkar & Marcellis Wentz for their vital feedback and suggestions during the modeling process).

I place the word 'designed' above in quotes, as my role was less of a designer and more an editor - amalgamating iconic design from the many incarnations of the Master Chief that we've seen since his initial appearance in Halo: Combat Evolved.

Chief's design for Halo Infinite stands on the shoulders of Bungie’s designs from the original Halo trilogy (designed by fantastic artists like Marcus Lehto, Eric Arroyo & Shi Kai Wang, among others). I spent weeks studying production sketches, ingame assets, marketing art, statues and other media from that era, trying to craft a design that pays homage and respect to the legacy of this legendary character & franchise.

Another substantial point of reference was Master Chief’s design from Shinji Aramaki’s short film ‘The Package’ from Halo: Legends (2010). I used the production concept art as reference, especially for Infinite Master Chief's shoulder armor, belt, chest plate, back armor, bicep/tricep, gauntlet and foot armor.

Additional Credits:
- Nicolas ‘Sparta’ Bouvier is AD.
- Kyle Hefley was responsible for all Master Chief texture work.
- Matt Aldridge is Lead Character Artist.
- Daniel Chavez created the concept for Chief’s gloves.
- Liquid Development modeled Chief’s gloves: Nick Govaco did the high-poly & Joshua Gregory did low/bakes.
